I can’t help but wonder how things would have gone down at Hogwarts if Harry had taken Draco up on his offer of super-friendship that first day at school and they’d both been sorted into Slytherin…

I mean, think about it…even if Harry had ended up kicking it with Draco, can you imagine Draco bringing Harry home to stay with the Malfoys for Christmas break?  Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy sitting at the table having Evil Christmas with the Boy Who Lived?  Because even if he in no way stood in the way of their schemes, they’re still gonna have to kill him.  It’s in the prophecy.  Harry’s gonna die anyway…but this time Draco isn’t pulled into the plot to murder his arch-nemesis Harry Potter.  Draco would be asked to murder his awesome, rich, good-looking, and famous BFF Harry Potter.  And that’s if he died in book six.  Draco isn’t the one carrying out the hit until book six.  The first five books he doesn’t have to get his hands dirty.  It’s all up to the grown-ups.  So if Harry Potter was betrayed by his Slytherin friends, without the help of his friendships with Ron and Hermione, it would be the adult Death Eaters who carried out the grim deed.  I didn’t get the vibe from the book that clever Death Eaters like the Malfoys would be careless enough to entrust these super secret plans to their son at age ten, and Draco obviously had no clue about the Let’s-Murder-Harry plan or he wouldn’t have tried to cozy up to Harry on that first day of school.  So in this scenario, where Harry has no help from Gryffindor, and gets iced by the Death Eaters whose house he skipped happily into, how do the Malfoys explain all this to Draco?

Do they tell Draco that his best friend Harry went to live on a farm in the country with a bunch of other famous best friends to run and play and be outside?
